The 1950's 17' and 20' Sportsman models make great "first boats". They're easy to handle and trailer, they have a plywood inner bottom, which tends to make them stronger and less prone to leaking, the engine options were all reliable, and the hull design (with some "Vee" to the hull all the way back) provides a good ride for the size of the boat.
This 20' example has a new "5200" bottom, is equipped with the 145 hp ML engine, and is in great usable condition. The original, not-very-attractive plastic windshield has been replaced with a chrome-plated brass Chris-Craft original, which really adds to the aesthetic of the boat! A galvanized tandem axle trailer is included.
Priced at the cost of the new bottom alone! $24,995.
